Well, I figured I would get the thread up so no one got to my idea first. lol. I saw this car on the cover of one of this months mustang magazines. Its merely a body kit by cervini's and I may not stick to it 100% but I just thought this car look SINISTER. and trust me it will have a power plant to go with it. Not sure about paint yet, I really like the color of the car in the photos however I've already got 2 mustangs in similar colors........its kind of sad I'm a bow tie guy through and through, but I think after this I will have more mustangs on my shelf than any other GM.........oh well. on to the pictures. let me know what you guys think!

Awesome looking Stang... it'll make a great modeling project. Good luck with it.

I would drop the front a bit and add some bigger tires to the rear, that always looks good on muscle cars.

Is gonna be a cool car!!

nice!!! We should be seing this car on the streets a lot in the near future. They did a special on this car on TLC's show "Rides". Chip Foose worked with the ford motor company on this project for the sole reason of making it a factory direct car. So you may see one of these sittin on the lot at your local ford dealership real soon. great project to take on. It is one hell of a good lookin car................*Ryan*

Well, I figured I would get the thread up so no one got to my idea first.

It's funny...you see replicas of so many types of 'stangs like the Eleanor and the Bullit, Boss, Hertz, etc... all in 1:1. These cars are a dime a dozen now!

I never thought I'd see more than one 1/24 replica of a Eleanor...but I forsee that with this kit there's going to be a bunch!

Oh , BTW I'm already ahead of you with the build. I'm just waiting till you're almost finsihed so I can post my pics before you :grinno:

gee thanks. wasn't saying that I wanted to be the only one to do it, or the first to finish it, just the first to post it up. someone else wants to do it....go ahead. if you've already got it in progress, lets see some pics!!! Mine may not be an exact replica of that kit, I plan on making some mods here and there. we will see as the build goes along. Not sure what to do about the wheels yet. I like the look of the wheels on that car.....not sure If I will stick with them or not

I don't beleive this is the car that Foose worked on. To my knowledge he hasn't worked with cervini's. If you are quoting from a magazine, you have your cars mixed up.

the foose car is similar. but different. here is a link to the Foose/Unique Performance 06 mustang that will be offered through dealerships

Dang you guys that not only have the new Mustang kit but are building it too!!! My LHS won't have theirs until tomorrow, Nov 09. Which by the way is the ACTUAL street date of the kit.

Glad to see you are the first to do a major makeover of the Stang.

I picked up some plastikote primer today.....i tested it on the wheel backs for the camaro, and it crazed the plastic...I'm running out of options. I just e-mailed Leon with Cobra Colors, I'm going to try out their primer. Hopefully I can get that in in the next week

JDMHOTROD2(Robert)

i used plastikote primer on my 06 stang and it came out fine, then shot h.o.k urathanes right over that and got a smooth as hell paint job with no problems.

11-09-2005, 09:01 PM
I got the front bumper opened up...and I need some opinions. Would it look better the way the body kit is done, with the holes closed up and sunk in, or would it look better with mesh....Im leaning toward mesh......but I havn't mocked it up yet. You can see the openings in the picture.

on the color I'm thinking something along the same lines as the car in the picture. mineral grey metallic and black stripes.

Damn I want this model kit... It is not available at HLJ and it will most probably will not make it into Malaysian market... Where can I get it? Furthermore, Revell products that is brought in here usually will cost more than Tamiya (damn resellers :banghead: )...

a little more progress. got the side skirts started. it is .020 strip styrene. I have tried the zinsser method for sealing off the plastic..and it works...so i've got the hood in primer, no pics but it is there. lol. I will be picking up some cobra colors primer on tuesday, hopefully it will be here by next weekend. comments and criticism.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/black2002ls/06%20mustang%20eleanor/2005_1113Image0021.jpg

I'll try and get some more later on, as the body is in primer and you can see the lines and details better

Hi, I have the same project but i wonder how you plan to built the front grill ? Nice start it's gonna look better than mine lol

white97ex
11-15-2005, 06:49 AM
the front grille will be done with strip styrene....

I havn't forgotten the exhaust dumps :D I've got 3 projects going at the same time, so they are all moving kind of slow

daklunk
11-15-2005, 08:43 PM
Now this will be one bad ride! The real deal looks positively wicked! Personally, I would have a little lower duck tail on the trunk lid, but overall I loved this car as soon as I saw it. Can't wait to see your 1:24 redition.... Keeep it up! Looks great!

Psst... zinsser method for sealing plastic?

white97ex
11-15-2005, 09:50 PM
its zinsser shilac basically. if the primer crazes the plastic, if you'll airbrush a couple coats of the zinsser over the primer you can sand it out. it seals the plastic off from further crazing..it can also be used to seal off body work to prevent ghosting

white97ex
11-17-2005, 09:37 PM
nothing to show just yet. Got the paint in. Cobra colors. I've sprayed the moon mud thus far...and I love this stuff. sprays easily sands easily....Leon has just got himself a new customer....if only he offered ppg sunset pearl.lol. back to the mustang. Im thinking about ditching the duck bill rear lip. I've run out of tamiya putty and don't want to order any more.....well I didn't run out.......I lost the other half. I've got the white half, lost the orange half, go figure. Anyone got some fairly simple ideas for the rear deck?

white97ex
11-17-2005, 09:38 PM
after a little looking......I found some good pics of the original eleanor......ok, modern gone in 60 seconds. I will do a smaller duckbill.......I'll more than likely use superglue to get the curve. I also noticed that I have yet to do the scoops on the side, and the exhaust.......if only I were ready to paint....think Ford Mineral Grey Metallic with black stripes....

redstang423
11-18-2005, 10:31 AM
Ford's new Tungsten Grey would probably match the car you are trying to replicate a little better. It's Mineral Grey's replacement for 2006. It's a more solid grey with less brown in it. Cobra Colors does sell this new color as well. Just throwin it out there for you, can't wait to see the finished product!

white97ex
11-18-2005, 11:38 PM
I like the darker gray better. both very nice colors....

white97ex
12-01-2005, 04:14 PM
a little update. I deviated from the body kit. I just couldn't find the time to finish the modifications. I left the exhaust exiting from the rear. I left out the scallops on the side of the car, and I didn't completely rework the front bumper. I have however hit the car with some paint. It is Cobra Colors Ford Mineral Grey, this is one of the best colors ever put on a car period. And the stuff sprays just as good as it looks. Leon has gained a new customer! on to the pics

why didnt u make the front bumper like the one in the picture?

white97ex
12-01-2005, 06:36 PM
I liked the openings better. I plan on covering all lower openings with mesh, and using a billet grille in the top......it has yet to be decided though. I'll decide all of that after the paint is on

99civichic
12-02-2005, 12:46 PM
Personally, I think mineral grey is too brown, I'd have used Duplicolor GM "Smoke." Is it just me, or are those last two pics...identical? Looks good so far, but I need better pictures!

Heh...I remember when I could build models

white97ex
12-03-2005, 12:13 AM
they are a little different. I had the shutter speed a little slower in one. I am debating on the black stripes or not. this car looks AWESOME without them. I'll probably clear it before I get around to masking the stripes...one down side of not having a whole lot of time to work on these

white97ex
12-13-2005, 06:52 PM
well, only one final left.....we wont discuss the grades. lol. I managed to get some clear on the body. the process used thus far, Sprayed base coat of cobra colors mineral grey, sprayed the stripes duplicolor black...I didn't spray the base color before the black after I masked, and it bled under.....so I resprayed teh mineral grey. This evening, I hit it with some cobra colors clear. I let it cure for some time, and I needed to wet sand the ridges from the masking. After that was done I hit the spots that I sanded with 3M imperial microfinishing compound....and now that I washed the body before I resprayed thinking it was silicone based....I just looked at the bottle and noticed it says contains no silicone...lol. After that was done, I sprayed 3-4 more coats of clear. so what you are looking at is somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-8 coats of cobra colors clear. I'll let it cure, and in a couple of days, I'll hit the whole thing with the microfinish, and then some meguiars gold class wax, pop in the lenses and detail the body, and then get on the drivetrain....enjoy

I go from project to project. when I get hung up or run down on one, I move to another. sometimes the creativeness is completely gone.....and I dont do anything. I am only working 4 days a week over christmas break, I plan on getting a LOT done. I have contemplated making this a curbside project. but only time will tell. I've still got to finish of the body. I havn't started on any other part of this thing yet. once the body gets completed, I might set it aside for a while and continue on with the camaro or the vette.

Project looks good, I too love this color on just about every car I have seen it on including this one. Too bad you did not have time to really get into the body kit mods but the car is still looking very nice so good job and keep the progress coming.

white97ex

I think that making it a little more slab sided on the bottom of the side of the body does this thing a world of good......I have my last final tomorrow. I've got a little fiberglass project for an interior panel for my truck that I would like to get finished over the christmas break. but look for a lot of progress on this in the next week or so
