B17's and 92 Civics

Hey everyone what's going on. I have a 92 SI hatch with a GSR B17a in it. Its better than a B16 but not as good as good a B18c. Does anyone know anything about the B17 trannys? In 4th gear I top out at 80-85 and 5.5-6.5 rpms, does this seem right? I was thinking of maybe investing in a better tranny but I need some advice about it first. It's pretty quick, much faster than the 97 EX I traded for(Motor blew soon after I bought it). My next mods for the engine will be a header (any good opinions?) CTR cams and titanium valves. Where can I find CTR cams? I read on AF that they are pretty awesome and a guy at the garage recommended them to me. One last question, I orderded an intake for the car, did I do right in ordereing one for my car and not the motor? And EG/EK civics are 96+ civics right?

B17 trannies are short as hell and super awesome.

Header depending on your price range I'd list differnt things. I really like Dave's *SSMP* work RMF is great too.
CTR cams rule I think www.hmotorsonline.com should probbly have some kicking around www.optauto.com has them too.
Yes you order for your motor not the car slight fitmit issues might happen but nothing hard at all.

Cool thanks man for the info, the help is appreciated. With the CTR cams would I need the cam gears too? And is Dave a guy on AF or the name of a company? My price range would be $800 or less ha ha. I'm not gonna buy any of this until spring time so I'll time to save up. thanks.

I got my cams with gears but I'm pretty sure your stock ones will work fine. Most people get aftermarket anyway.
I dont know if hes on AF or not hes on HT i know that and SSMP is the company name RMF and hytech all make an awesome header they run from around 500-2000 depending most street ones 700 range.
If you are looking for a lower priced header the DC sports "JDM" header is pretty well made part.

my advice keep your b17 tranny...thats a main reason your car is fast...it doesnt really matter if in 4th gear you top out at around 85-90...if you want it faster than that theres still 5th and i doubt you would want to go any faster than a b17 tranny will allow you to anyway...my guess is in 5th you should top out at about 115-120mph...

Thanks again Ace the info is greatly appreciated and used wisely. And iVteC the only reason I was asking about the tranny is because in 5th gear at 115-120 the motor has more power to make. But yes 120 is fast enough for me, for now.I finally got to test this car out yesterday and it goes like a scalded dog (good thing). No power steering was hard to get used to at first but I love it now. I feel more in control of the car.
The mods : passwordJDM carbon intake, Full exhaust. short shifter and lowered.
I'm extremly happy with this car.
