Checking out a Probe

I'm sure it's been asked befor and I've flipped through the last few pages without much luck so I'm gonna post it. I've found what seems to be a nice 1993 Probe GT with 68k Miles on it. It would be my first real car and just using it to get myself to and from school/work. My question is how reliable/dependable are the GT Probes outside of regular maintenace? Are they peppy w/o any mods or would I be looking into serious modding for strong power, both off the line and top end. What body kit/rims look best in your opinion on the probe?

Heres a link to the actual car on autotrader.

hey, there pretty reliable cars if you treat them right (not driving like a maniac all the time, allowing the car to warm up before you go out and race, keeping up on maintenence etc.) they are pretty zippy cars stock, i think the stock 0-60 is like 7.2, not bad. but $4,250 for a 12 year old car? i would definatly negotiate with that. remember, the car dealers set the price high, so that they can negotiate and still make something off the deal.

Oh, just noticed its an auto, those transmissions arn't the best, actually some of the worst auto transmissions made, but if you find a probe w/ the 5 spd, not only will it be more zippier, but less chance of something going wrong w/ the trans.

Also, one thing you want to look out about is that the car is a 93, during the introduction of the kl03 engine (93-94) the ignition module was placed inside the disty. This means that (overtime) the heat will be really hard on the module, and cause it to fail. They don't just sell the module so you have to buy a whole new disty, and those disty's usually fail. but if you run into this problem there is a cheap $20 fix out there, it's called the hei mod. anyway, good luck! and if you get into the probe community, go on www.probetalk.com for anyquestions you may have!
