Can anyone tell me where to find the switch for the back-up lights on a 96 Metro?? 56k mi., 1.0L, HB, 5 spd. std. shift??
Already checked the fuse- GOOD. If you play with the shifter they flash on. Is there a way to adjust it?
Thanks

My first guess would be on the transmission, but I could be wrong.

OK found it - I don't see any adjustment - is there one?
The back-up lights only seem to come on if you juggle the shifter in reverse. I thought there might be something I could adjust to make them stay on.

No adjustment; the contacts have worn. Simple replacement though.

Thanks to ALL - I will look into replacing the switch as soon as the weather clears again.

+++++UPDATE+++++
Called today looking for 2 things -
1. Reverse light switch - found it, determined it IS intermittent.
2. 13" wheels for this little 96 Metro
Parts seem hard to find. Personally, I have never had a reverse light switch go bad on any of my vehicles, so I thought it may be a high failure rate item. The dealer said the closest one was in TN at a cost of $30 = NOT. Another parts store said ten days to order it. Finally, found a parts store who claimed he could have it tomorrow cost $11.50. Ordered.
Wheels - the salvage yards I called did not have any. Found one who had 4 = cost $100 = NOT I. Ebay is that much PLUS shipping = $20/ea. wheel. Don't these people understand if you are driving a Metro, you probably don't want to pay $25 for 1 "used" steel wheel? So the search for wheels to mount my Hakkapeliita's before the snow flies continues.
Dr. Bill - where did you find 4 wheels for $60?
