The Transformation part 1

well.. since I've decided to actually be original with my car and go all motor instead of turbo, I figured the first thing I can do is take care of the orange valve cover disaster so I tried to make it red.. didnt work, so I threw a tantrum and painted it gloss black and I do like it. If you want badass, you want black :D

actually.. the new paint looks really bad, I was just getting an idea. I'm gonna get it done in black chrome at a powdercoating shop.

just step 1 in the who-knows-how-many-step process of finishing off this car

Oh they have torque.. nothing like a good ol' V8.

Pontiac Trans Am and Supra, both rated at 320hp

Supra- 315lbft of torque
Trans Am- 350lbft of torque

dont whine about it being 2 more cylinders, those turbos should make up for it.

besides.. there is nothing like an n/a V8 to get the andrenaline pumping, not to mention, there is no turbo lag, just power from idle to redline ;)

Just out of curiousity, you have any specifics on how you're going to accomplish that? All in the head, or are some new pistons in your future?

i/h/e, high flow cat, skunk2 IM, bored tb, bigger injectors, aem rail, ctr or skunk2 cams, P&P, msd ignition, apexi vafc

it'll be close enough to 200hp.. I don't care, next time I'm gonna get a car that's over 200 to start with. :D

It's gonna cost you an ass load of money! You forgot to add new rods/pistons! Plus the pissed off look on your face when you go to the track and some punk in an teg sprays a 75 shot of nos that cost him $500. I really support the all-motor route though, it's just expensive.

Suppose he didn't want to go into the block. Not everyone that goes all-motor has to change the rods and pistons you know.



Also, what if Jon wants to do autoX. Nitrous isn't the best idea in that arena.

exactly.. all-motor doesnt always mean complete overhaul. Besides, if I was gonna go all-out all-motor.. it wouldnt be on a Civic.

nitrous isn't the best idea in autoX, nor is it the best idea if you want to be cheap. It's long term expense, not just the initial $500, and can also cause problems.

and yes I do want to start the ol' autoX thing.

I wasn't saying to go the nitrous route! I was just saying he'd be pissed off if he'd spent all of that money on all-motor and some guy sprayed him and beat him. Anyway, if some of you fuckers would read my original post I NEVER SAID "GET NOS"

Believe me, I was thinking of having my setup all-motor and thank God my friends talked me out of it b/c of what you said, "IT IS A CIVIC." But they were being supportive and suggesting to do an all motor later on when I have a car that would be worth putting the extra money in to.
Anyway, good luck w/ the setup, keep us posted.

How is a guy with nitrous going to beat him in an autoX?


Spray in a corner and understeer like a mo-fo? Doesn't sound like it could beat an all-motor car in an AutoX

well, I wouldn't make a bold statement like that, lol. Let's say an Integra LS. At the track this weekend a stock LS ran a 17.8. Stock the Si's were running around 16.0. Keep in mind it was 95 degrees outside :). There was a GSR running a 75 shot as well and he could only pull 15.2 all day. And that was spraying a 75 shot on full throttle and he got his ass raped by Civics all day :). Not all motor Civics in most cases but still, a Teggie with a 75 shot isn't exactly holding weight, lol. Then again, one Civic whooped up on a turbocharged Saleen and a nitrous/turbo WRX. His passes were in the low 11's :). It was a 00 Si.

From the photo, it looks like you also polished your whole engine, because the 2nd pic it is all silver (?). Or is it just the camera your using?

Yeah, black all the way!!! (Okay, so owning a black car makes me biased but nobody ever said AF was fair).

I like the black alot better..it sets off the engine compartment very nice...

huh? I did the vaseline trick on the lettering if you wondered why they are still silver
