What's the top speed you think the 2.4 dohc 1999 grand am stock?

105+-1mph @5000-5500. the governor on the engine is restricted for the safty others(&you). Now if the limits was rased, probley 120-125mph, depending on what transy you use.

The limit is usually governed by the oe tire, speed rating.

maxwedge, the tires wont keep you from doing 120mph. But if they deciede to blow out at 120mph ur f*****d. the cpu/pcm governs the speed limiter.

haha why the change i puushed my car an 89 grand am and was doin about 120 but i still need it or i ight have gotten 125 MAYBE 130 outta it. i was suprised for a little stock 4 banger. BUT now (about 4 months later) i have a vibration at start, and once in a while it stalls while drivng, this WAS frequent but now is much less. any suggestions for the problem or fixes?

I've done the same thing on my 04 Ecotec and i topped out at 107 even as well. Its like that guy said earlier. The PCM is programmed to not exceed the speed rating of the tires. I dont know if youre still running the Goodyear Eagle G/As on there or not but the speed rating is only like 115 on those tires.

I havent raced anyone with my new setup yet...its been too wet here and the car was out of service for awhile. I did race a ford focus hatchback going to a concert. I think it was a zx3 and the guy only had one passenger. I had a full car and i wasnt even paying attention when the light changed and he took off and got ahead of me by about a car length or so. I ended up catching him before i even shifted into 2nd. He had the graphics and a coffee can muffler so he was pushing at least 400 hp :iceslolan ..anyways i ended up blowing him away and that was totally stock. Now with the pulleys and the B&M and the WAI i think it wouldve been a blowout.

Haha thats the funniest thing cause there is this kid around my neighborhood with a ZX3 hatchback with a loud ass exhaust and everytime he drives by him he rev's the shit out of his car. I've told him that we could race before but he always chickens out. Guess I know why now :)

i did 122 in my moms 2000 grand am gt. it seriously wouldn't go any faster then that. the 2.4 cars have governors they won't go past 108

yea it was pretty fun. she used to always let me borrow her car cause mine was a shit box. my dad had a 1999 Se with the 3.4 too and i could only get that one up to 118.

My stock 99' se 3.4 would only do 105mph, put premium in it and got 110mph. Now it tops out around 130-140, depending on the outside temps. I hav no limitr and I'm not stock by no means.

its great to borrow the parents car, until you bring it home broken. LOL. that usually ends that for awhile.

I got my dads 2001 Monte Carlo SS up to 140 once. It was fast. No shimmy either. Totally smooth, like cruising along at 60. that was the fastest ive ever gone in a car before. I fear speeds higher than 100 mph because if something goes wrong :uhoh: ROAD PIZZA :uhoh:

My car before my grand am was a 1994 saturn sc2 and I got it up to 130 before no lie. It was smoother at 130 than it was at 100

i did 150 in my mustang cobra. so far i've only done like 110 in my formula

haha ok since then i have had it up to 125. its still totally stock. the only thing that isnt 100% percent original is, my clutch(replaced with original stock), put in 1 new motor mount, and redid the brake lines and discs and all that.. im lookin at droppin a 2.0 t in it to add 50 HP.
