I bet you they have nothing to do with the owner. The real asking price is much less.

I was going to close this yesterday since that ad is horribly outdated and obviously inaccurate. You'll find a similar one here:

http://www.readytofix.com/Inventory/McLaren_F1_GTR.htm

Both ads should be pulled now.

We know this car was purchased by Maranello Motorsport in Australia several months ago. Before leaving England it was sent to McLaren where it received a complete respray to Papaya Orange, as well as a refit of the interior and likely a complete service. From there it has made it's way to Australia, arriving there approximately 1 month ago.

You'll find the car listed here now:

http://www.maranellomotorsport.com/displayCar.asp?c=4

And the asking price is quite a bit lower, but still not cheap, at 1,160,000.00 Euros.

The Enzo is an extremely rare car in Australia, so the price could be considered justified. Unfortunately Aussie laws don't allow LHD vehicles to be registered for road use, and there were no RHD Enzos made (that we know of) so the car becomes a garage/track queen over there.

1.1 mil. usd is still too much for an enzo, here in the states you could damn near buy an enzo and a slr mclaren for 1.1 mil...
and it doesnt say anywhere in the ad that its 1.5 mil. AUD, it just says taxes in australia or something of that nature, and then the not for au registration, i forget what it says exactly... this reminds me of when the ford gt first came out, people were paying up around $300k for a $150k car, and it wasnt even available yet, i can justify 1.8 or 1.9 mil. for a f1, simply because there are less than 100 in the entire world, thats less than 100 f1 variances to nearly 7 billion people, much more exclusive than any other production supercar...

I'm sorry, but you could not come close to buying an Enzo and SLR for $1.1M USD right now.

The original MSRP on the Enzo was under $700,000, but on the used/second-hand market, Enzos are selling for just under $1M USD these days. There aren't any new ones available so that's the price you pay if you want one.

There are a few 0km Enzos in Europe, though, and they're priced around 850-900k USD.

Well you couldn't buy one of those and import it to the USA - our laws don't allow for that.

So, the price for the Enzo on the open market in the USA is still just under $1M by last report.

Yeah, who cares about the Enzo? The latest EVO has a nice article that explains why the F40 is so very special, even though the latest entry-level Ferrari, the 430, has more power. Cars get more capable all the time, but it takes more than that to make a car really special.

If you really do care about the abomination named after Ferrari's founder, go browse a Ferrari site.

How did they pull that off? They certainly didn't come in under Show or Display. This rule would negate that:

"Whether a vehicle of the same make, model, and model year was manufactured and certified for sale in the United States."

Are they legal and permanent? Can they be sold? I know of the black Enzo with UK registration spotted in LA, but I would bet that car isn't here to stay. Maybe this is a better discussion for F-Chat.

I know there's one in Miami. That one could've gotten in illegally, but it's pretty easy to do here in Florida. However, since the US-spec Enzo was made in 2003 and some Euro-spec models were made in the same year, you're allowed to import only 2003 Euro-specs if you compare it to the US-spec and make the necessary changes.
