yesterday when I was heard the lift tick ( I was scare, something wrong with my engine ), so I pop uncrew the timing belt cover, and the pully was dirty ( very little oil ), Im thinking spay some dw-40 , but I dont have none, so I spay some brake cleaner on the timming belt pullt ( is this bad ). What can I spay to clean out the timming belt pully ? thanks.

Ummm, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't brake cleaner eat rubber? Like the same rubber that the timing belt is made out of?...

I'm not sure if the fluid would eat the rubber but what ever you do don't put anything on your timing belt :shakehead . That's just asking for disaster. If it's lifter tick you'll just have to find a remedy for it(i.e. oil additive, oil change, or getting over it).

you could have just created a disaster by spraying your timing belt with brake cleaner. NEVER LET ANY FLUIDS TOUCH THE TIMING BELT, even if it's a "cleaner"
