Intake Cover

I was lookin at some of the threads about the painted covers, and was wonderin if the paint you guys was usin was for high temps, or just regular paint? I think itd look cool on my truck, but I dont wanna paint it, then have it bubble and crack. Thanks in advance for any help

I tried painting mine and f'd it up, and had to replace the cover...

the best way is to to put about 4 coats of primer, and then use a special spray paint for plastic.....you can buy it almost any where.....I know walmart sells it for sure.....'dupli-color plastic spray paint'.......do about 2 coats of this and then do about 4 coats of clear coat.......IT WILL NOT BUBBLE IF YOU ARE PATIENT.....the bubbles will only form if you apply to much paint....so the key is 'many coats in thin applications'....and you will be amazed how much of a professional you are..........

another thing.......if you guys screw up and the bubbles show up , then just sand it down, and apply a extra couple coats.....always, use a 600 grit, or 800 grit sandpaper.....

has anyone had any trouble of with the paint cracking after reinstalling it? wouldnt the engine compartment get too hot? thanks again for any help

I used Dupli-Color metal flakes. 4 coats primer, 4 coats paint, 5 coats clear or something like that.
