I have a 98 eclipse, has new tire and I replaced the front wheel bearings last month. I have a knocking sound coming from the passenger front wheel. It is not a pop or grind. I have been told by the mechanic that replaced the bearings that they see nothing wrong. I am really concerned with the noise. The sound is constant and louder when I slow down.

Did they make sure and lube them up good when they replaced them? Have you checked?

They checked both of them when I took it back. They said that they couldn't find anything wrong. I drive the car about 180 miles each day. The road has alot of curves and hills. I am really concerned for safety. I am afraid that my wheel is going to fly off. The car has about 141,000 miles on it and I have never had to do any major work on it.

Make sure lug nuts are tight, also check to make sure that the plastic insert in the wheel well isn't bending to make contact with the wheel. If it's happening when you turn, it's probably a CV joint.

It was a bad wheel bearing.
