1995 acheiva (v/6).by-passed it for now. mechanic said it was leaking from a/c drain under car. i never heard of any heater cores that share a pan with a/c under dash(great idea)."low coolant level" warning light appeared ,then temp gage started climbing. i kept it out of the "red DANGER zone".anyone know how much time (labor) involved to replace heater core? and best place to buy a new one?also is there an after market plug-in to cigarette type available anywhere just to get thru the winter?

It will cost around $250 to $300 to have it replaced with parts and labor. You can purchase one from most parts stores but the issue is getting to it not the replacement itself. Finally, you can purchase a plug in heater for the car from Autobarn.com if that is what you choose to do.

can the average shady tree mechanic replace a heater core on the acheiva. i worry that my mecahnic may fix the core and break 2 or 3 other parts.
