4t60e problems

my 1994 grand am has a 4t60e in it.it goes in reverse fine.but in forward gears it has a very slow start and feels like i am putting the brakes on.possibly tcc always engaged?it feels this way in any forward gear i put it in.feels really bad in manual 2nd.an ideas?

welcome whiteturbo87. Hav you checked the fluid level? Most of the time when the TCC goes out the car will just die when its warm, and you are driving and come to a stop, put in N and it stays running. But You might hav other internal issues. Not a good sign :( at all.

I am having the same issue with a Lumina, it is starting off in 2nd. Try manual first and if it takes off easier. It may take a second to get the 1-2 valve to move. See my post on 96 Lumina for more details.

Do a filter change and add either trans-x or seafoam. They both work great at freeing up sticky shift solenoids and tranny valves. If that doesn't fix it, you need to replace the offending shift solenoid.

What about the valve the solenoid operates or the valve body itself?? All 4 of my solenoids are new.

Then tonight I went out to look at it. I went to pull it into the shop and it was in 1st! I took off my jumper harness and took it for a ride. All gears worked and properly! I drove around for a while and then it started to take off in second and then jump to first and act normally. The hotter it got, the longer it stayed in second before jumping into first then shifting normal. I cleaned grounds just to be sure they were OK but it still stays in second.

If I hadn't replaced the solenoids already I would say because it acted up when it got hot it had to be the solenoid. I guess I could have gotten a bad one but it ohmed OK when the problem was present.

Gonna try the foam thing.
