My car does not start all of the time. All I get is a click. I have changed the battery and checked the cables...no joy. I took the car to the local dealership and they said the starter was bad. I changed it...no joy. The car starts better than it did, but still has problems. I called the dealership and without looking at it they told me I put in a bad starter, that irks me because they haven't even looked at it again. It seems to me that the park/neutral sw is failing, because it seems to happen more in my driveway (incline) than in the street.

when it does start, do you have a check engine light to come on? The neutral start switch is a possibility, but it's not easy to get to and replace easily. I would check the ignition switch next, make sure that isn't faulty.

No Check Engine Lt, will not start at all now. I am sending it to the dealership. It was there last week, and they will check it out for free this time.

Please be aware that alot of parts like alternators and starters are now poorly made. It does sound as though the starter could be the problem still. I had to replace my starter 3 times before it would operate. I called the company that remanufactured the starter and was told that failure rate for rebuilt starters and alternators was up to over 40%. After this shock I replaced the old starter with a new one rather than a remanufactured. No problems since. Same thing happened with an alternator on my friends 98 Ford f150. I went through five remanufactured alternators until I took the original to get repaired at a generator repair shop.
