Any help appreciated
98 gmc sierra x-cab 1500 4x4/5.7 ltr. automatic

I recently changed my intake gasket set(fluid leak)and did not realize there is no traditional timing on this engine.the distributor went in one tooth off and the truck was started, then corrected distributor after realizing the problem.
Ever since the job the engine has a hard miss around 50 and 70 mph.
I also have the cmp code p0340.
My question is could the cmp not being reset with the test set be causing the miss,or should I look elsewhere.
Thanks in advance for any help Tmon

Usually when the dist is off a DTC P1345 Crankshaft Position (CKP)-Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation code is set.
A P0340 code is because the PCM is not receiving a signal from the CMP sensor.
First thing is to check that the harness is plugged into the dist.

You probally do not have the distribitor set right.Did you mark it before pulling it out?Guess what, the ignition timing is not adjustable.

Thanks Merlin
I checked the plug-in at the sensor like you suggested and it was plugged in but felt funny,so I bought a telescoping inspection mirror to see inside the port without removeing the distributor, and low and behold- a bent pin.
Straightened it out and everything seems to be back to normal,no timeing issues!
Thanks again,You trully are a Wizard!!!
