I would drop the DOHC VTEC ZC into my car, lower it, and then with the money left over I would try to get a theft recovery tacoma, drop a turbo supra engine into that, and add a lift kit.

That way, my civic would be fast, and I would have a truck that not only could go wheelin, but would be fast also

that is fukin cool, if i wasnt more interested in going faster i'd do that to my hatch

Melt

is your d16z6 fast? This is another option that most people around my area with 4g civics dont talk about much.

fast enough to smoke the people i race around here. the d16 is nice it drops right in....real easy swap.

I think thats cool i'f u like to go SHOW, unless u would go with any decent type of engine in it and make it kinda fast, but if u were gonna do motor work, you would not sped ur money on a semi-shitty lookin rag top!

Time to put your foot in your mouth now. They do make a sohc zc, why you would want it I don't know, it sure isnt anything special.

check these pics out at: http://www.vitessesportscar.com/pricing.htm

converted civic and crx :D

if i had another 89 Si, i'd probably do it to my Si. why not? it's been totalled. i just don't care for the hood...i'd have to custom the kit to my style.

The SOHC ZC came with my car. It isnt like I specifically put it in there or anything. And there is a vtec version of the DOHC zc, but they never had it here in the US and they were pretty rare in japan also.

the severed ties car club is actually very good. they have had many magazine features and consistently win shows. I do not necessarily agree with some of their styling choices, but they still pull it off really good and clean. That droptop is cool. I've always wondered why Honda didn't make a drop top Prelude... that might have helped its sales, and perhaps kept the prelude alive for a few more years.

 I once saw a CRX convertible on some site but I've never seen a hatchback without a roof. I don't like it but it's cool though.

btw, those disk brakes look huge with those rims ;)

Not in Japan they don't. Dual-carb DOHC ZC yes, Fi DOHC ZC yes, SOHC ZCs are non-existant. However, there are SOHC VTEC engines - economy varients, but they are not ZC spec as ZC denotes twin-cam. I can check, but I am fairly sure they are D - series engines.

Either way, a SOHC ZC VTEC engine is pure bullshit.

anyone seen that pic floating around the net that shows an integra with a viper engine in it? it's photoshop, but it looks really good.

It looks alrite. I think some guy in Arizona does this conversion for a living? I saw him posting up a gray one on the partstrader sayin that he can do it. He was selling a rex just like that. ANYWAYS I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF DOHC ZC V-TEC??? Where did you get this info from? I did heard of sohc zc v-tec but not sure its a true name for it.

They definitely aren't ZC.

Honda Japan lists them as a VTEC-E SOHC engine designated D15B. A friend up the road has the Aussie varient as a D16B.

Economy version only - no ZC designation.

The only time the ZC came out post 91 was on the Aussie (and Euro?) EG Si, but by then the engine had it's designation changed to D16A (which came in halfway through the run of EF CRXs, replacing the ZC stamp).

OK - so the car is interesting...not my style..why not buy a Geo Metro convertible than hack up a Civic (or CRX) to look like one??

Now, there seems to be a few differing opinions here..and I am not trying to holler at anyone or make anyone look dumb..If I followed the discussion correctly I see this:

One - Is there a DOHC VTEC ZC (no, there isn't) and:
Two - Is there a SOHC ZC (yes, there is)
Three- Is there a SOHC VTEC ZC (Yes, apparently there is)
This information was pulled from here! (http://asia.vtec.net/topics/zc.html)

I dunno where Melt got a SOHC ZC for his sedan, but hey, it isn't stock if it is in the US, and IMO, swaps are cool.

Then how would you mate a sohc head on a zc block?

I know for a fact when I bought my first dx, it had swapped in a sohc zc. Right there in big letters on the block were the letters Z and C, and it had one cam. I never said it had vtec, but it was there. So explain that?

The SOHC ZC was in the car when I bought it.

The guy before me put it in after he blew the stock 1.5 by not adding coolant. I have no idea where it came from

no you guys are right.....I saw an SOHC ZC for sale today on the crx resource website....so I am wrong....but in like 3 years of studying Hondas I had never seen or heard of one.

Well, I did a little checking and Honda does list the EF 4-door as having a SOHC ZC, so my bad on that one. Then I realised that the Concerto had the SOHC ZC, as we used the auto tranny from one in a CRX about 8 years ago.

Anyway, you might not have said VTEC, but we are working at cross purposes as the comment I was responging to was:

if I had 16 g's
I would drop the DOHC VTEC ZC into my car

Yeah...there is no DOHC VTEC ZC...now that would be money ;)

There is a dude with a clean CRX convertible. His name is Mike Babassi. I would post a url but the car was in a CRX gallery that was recently shut down. He engineered a folding hardtop. Ultra simple and clean!
As far as NSX power behind the seats, that's my dream car! If they can shoehorn it into a CRX, the 4g Hatch should be less problematic.

Stripped 4g hatch + Acura NSX motor + Comptech supercharger = Silly fun

this is the babassi rex convert. http://members.tripod.com/crx97/crxproto/convertible.htm

10x better than the green hatch if you ask me. I actually like this one.

This data is very true, I have seen all these motors in cars here in NZ and have driven them as well, the SOHC Vtec ZC came in the JDM Civic ferio (4dr) EXi, its basically the same as the D16Z6.
The one I drove was an auto, not very exciting.
