Bought the car for my daughter last month - car had sat for a year and needed 4 injectors. Had them changed, put in a fresh tank of gas and car was running fine. She took her road test on Wednesday, so we drove around for a few hours doing parks and turns. After road test, on way back home, car started knocking on hard accelaration, no power. Car starts fine and idles fine, just knocks real bad on hard accelaration, making car almost undriveable. Any suggestions - plunk down even more cash for repairs or just part it out? Thanks.

Check To See If The Oil Up To Where It Should Be, If Thats Not It Youll Most Likely Have To Take It To Someone How Knows What There Doing

:iagree: did you happen to check the oil before you took it out for a test drive. After sitting for a year, it's probably really low and extremely dirty. Also, I would suggest getting your tranny fluid, and differential changed as well. Basically, just get it a major tune up and have all the fluids changed. Might cost a good sum of money, but thats what happens when you buy a car that hasnt been taken care of.

no mine was more like a backfire - turned out that i blew the cam and it wasn't worth repairing on a motor with 130,000 miles so it's having a new motor put in - thanks for all the replies.

I am working on my own daughter's 1995 3.4L and it too backfires on acceleration through the intake. I replaced many parts already and am about to replace the camshaft. Is this what your car was doing? Backfiring through the intake? Did anyone verify it to be the camshaft? I really appreciate any information...it has been tough diagnosing this problem.
Thanks,
Alton

Whoa, this is a 3 month old thread. If you have something that relates to an older thread just make a new one and link to the old one.
