Question on turn signal and cruise control issue

I just bought a 1995 Buick Century and the left turn signal does not turn off after a turn. The right works fine, but left stays on. The cruise control is also not working and it is built into the turn signal arm. I'm trying to get this car in tip-top shape for my mom so if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this I would GREATLY appreciate it. Please advise. Thanks....

The two problems are probably unrelated. The turn signal problem is a broken or worn cancelling cam. Pull the steering wheel off and you'll see it under a plate. Its most likely a plastic thing with little nipples on it. New ones are cheap.

The cruise control's most common problem areas are a poorly adjusted brake light switch or a blown fuse. Check all of the fuses. Some of the GMs use one circuit for the control part of the cruise and a different fuse/circuit for the actual drive motor that operates the throttle.

For the cruise....If it isn't a fuse, what next? How do I adjust the brake light switch?

Super simple. Under the dash, follow the brake pedal swing arm up to near where it meets the hinge. There is a little button on the rear of that arm that is allowed to pop out when you press the pedal. Its threaded in plastic so it sometimes works its way out. With the brake pedal at rest, adjust it so the switch is fully tight against the arm.

If that doesn't do the trick, make sure you're getting continuity from the brake light switch to the cruise unit. I think it might be an orange wire with brown, but very unsure of that. Check to make sure the column wiring harness is fully engaged and the contacts are clean.

Otherwise, it might just be a bad cruise servo motor or something that needs to be replaced.
