Lack of engine options

I love BMW (especialy the M3) but dose anyone think they should have more engine options?

Like why dosn't BMW offer differnt engines in there 7 series like the 500hp V10. Dose anyone think they will ever offer that option

I also noticed that they use the same engine options for there 3 and 5 series
Dose any one think the lack of engine options is a mistake on BMW's half.

I think they should offer the I6 333hp in the 5 series

Anyone agree with this.

Actually BMW makes a wider variety of engines right now then any other company right now :dunno: Most of them are only sold in Europe, but BMW offers a wide veriety of 4-cylinders and Diesel engines that are not available in the US.

They won't offer the 5.0l V10 in the 7-series because that is a louder, higher performance engine. The 6.0l V12 in the 760Li is a much smoother, quieter engine, and it acually generates about 60 more lb-ft of torque then the V10.

Why put the S54 3.2L M3 engine in the 5-series when they have the 360hp 550i? Again, the S54 is a bit high strung for your average 5-series owner, and frankly won't be as effective of an engine that the 4.8L in the 550i is.

The M guys don't like putting their engines into every car in the lineup, only ones that have actual performance potential. That is why you don't see an M X5 or an M7, they are just too heavy to be performance cars. They do not want to see the M name watered down like AMG has been with their SUVs and luxo boats. People will actually race the M3, M5, and the M Roadster, but nobody is going to race an ML55 AMG or a G55 AMG. Its just silly.

BMW shares engines all over its lineup to save money on production costs. The 525i and 325i use the same engines. The 330i, 530i, X5 3.0, X3 3.0, Z4 3.0, 630i (Europe only), and 130i (Europe only) all use pretty much the same engine. The 550i, 650i, X5 4.8is, and 750i all use the same engine as well. Its pretty smart of BMW to use the same engines all over their lineup because it saves money on production and repairs.
