Will CA work to hold on a resin kit, or do I need to use epoxy?

CA will do fine. Shouldn't need epoxy.

On either note . . . make sure the meeting joints have been roughed up then thoroughly cleaned.

Both CA and epoxy have been known to separate even after quite sometime due to a dirty/contaminated gluing surface. . .

CA will do fine. Shouldn't need epoxy.

Yes CA will do fine for most jobs. Epoxy has its uses on parts that require more fiddle factor. Don't forget other glues like PVA which is useful for small PE parts and such.

It's also worth noting that small etch parts (emblems, body catches etc.) can be tuck down with clear paint. It's a technique I use quite alot on my 1:43 builds.
