Going to an Automotive School

Just wanted to let you guys/gals, since you all are like family, that i'll be going to WyoTech in April, as long as i keep everything together. I'm happy as hell!! My car will definitely be down a lot longer than expected now, but aleast when ever i plan my LT1/T56, it'll be a helluva lot easier, might even go with an LSx swap. Who knows what the future will bring. Btw, Blownalcoholboy, i read a thread where you said you were considering the school, if you do, maybe we can meet up, if we go to the same campus.

Well, if your young and have no kids or anything, go for it. I did 18 hour days for 2 years and got nothing but another bill. Too old with too many repsonsibilites to take the cut in income starting out a new career.

Don't believe the "you'll be a BMW tech when you graduate and making 80K a year" garbage. Just a forewarning there. I graduated top of my class, passed in my first round of ASE certification exams and still would have to start by busting tires down and oil changes.

But like I said, your young enough to it, so good luck, it should pan out for ya. :)

Thanks guys. Wrightz28, i know it's all game when they tell you things like that, so i won't let that go to my head. Blownalcoholboy, it's about $23,000. Believe me, i'm one of the brokest bastards around. Both parents don't work, no money saved up, but i hope to get financial aid, loans and shit like that (smh). The school i'm in now really sucks, teachers just don't give a f*ck about ya. Wrightz28, you went there?

congrats...the commercials make that place look bad ass...that should deffinately help you out with the engine swap.

Neh, Linconln Tech they make it look good on TV too. We had a dyno room with 350 HO crate motor all decked out in edelbrock and chrome that "when you get to the general engine class start tearing motors up, you could be doing this one". Yeash, right, damn thing is display only.

If there were a wyotech here, I would have definately gone there. I don't think the outcome would have been any different, even the UTI guys say the same thing.

It was a cool experience atleast. Oh and as revenge for the lying about the crate motor, when it came time to fire my 2.5 up after rebuild in gen. engine, it was raining outside, so they were running the motors in the shop, well, I washed down my cylinder walls with tons of oil, so when that bad boy fired up and ran a few, it smoked the whole damn building out, hysterical.

Blairsville, PA. Thats were i'm going in April. It'll be a fun experience at least. I can get the hell out of Boston for awhile, yeessh!!

I used to live in Blairsville! :icon16: I was thinking about going to that school since I could live with one of my aunts/uncles, but I got into the votech program at my highschool now. I'm getting interviewed at Priority Chevrolet next Wednesday/Thursday :grinyes: There are a couple kids in my class who are getting about $750 a week working 20 hours part time. Hell yeah!

I know a guy that graduated (supposedly) in the top of his class from Nashville Auto Diesel College. He never did get a job - nobody would hire him because of the fact that he went to that school.
Im not sure what the curriculum is there but it does make me wonder about them though. This guy would do well to tie his own shoes ,i just cant see him being an automotive tech. (kind of reminds you of Beetle Bailey - goofy type) And I sure as heck wouldn't even think of letting him under the hood of my cars! But what makes me wonder about NADC is the fact he graduated in the top of his class! If "HE" is that incompetent - in the top of the class what kind of shit are they turning out on the "average" level?
I think its all about the money - if you pay the fees you will graduate regardless of what you know or are capable of doing.

Im sure there are much better schools out there than NADC,but how do you tell what you are going to get before enrolling and paying the tuition?
It might be a good idea to go by a couple of auto dealerships and just ask the question of their service manager what his opinion is of the school you are thinking about attending and get a feel of the quality of education you will receive.

Haha, thats awesome, so im guessing everyone was outside in the rain? Well aside from that, it seems that every automotive school is kinda BSing.. well I hope ya luck anyway, Link.

Thanks guys. I hope to hell that it all works out. A rep from the school came to my house. We talked and he showed me a couple cars that they built. Holy sh*t!!! Was all i could say.
