well, i want some opinions on this car i just found, i had a 1980 t/a and got rid of it after the engine seized, but i just found a guy who has a 1976 Firebird, it's got a 400 and a 4 speed manual tranny, i took a look, and the inside is like totally mint, all leather and everything, and suprisingly it has original rear quater panels and they are completely rust free, and totally metal, no bondo at all, the car looks great, but he's not sure if it runs, it needs a carb and doesn't have a battery in it, he wants a grand for it, and it's also an Esprit, or something, what does that mean? i'm looking for another bird, and i've been told this one has some real restoration value and is one of the more rare 2nd gen birds, it's all original, i just don't know a whole lot about the firebirds and t/a's i had my 80 for a total of about 3 weeks before the engine went, damn 301 :(

but i'm just wondering if this is something i should think about picking up, if i buy this i can put about $4,000 into it, i can buy another 80 in great condition for $5,000, but i think this 76 would be a bit more original then the 80, cuz the 80's style one's are everywhere.

I'd hurry and buy it before somebody else does. This car sounds like a bargain. The Esprit was a base model Firebird. But the 400/4 speed is rare in any year. So if you are looking for something original, you need to find out if it is numbers matching, but even if not, for a grand it is a heck of a deal!!! Forget the 80 for $5000. One point though leather was not an option from the factory. So I doubt you are looking at leather unless the owner added it afterwards.
