Hey all,
Well, my cousin's got this 78 chevy truck with 165000 miles for sale for $500, i know its a 350 4bbl. (still runs and dont burn a drop of oil believe it or not) and i did some more research and found out that the engine code is ls9. ive searched everywhere, and i cant find a damn bit of information about this engine except it was rated 175hp and 275tq. I've got an 84 Z28 5sp w/ the carbed 305 and i would like to switch out that engine for a 350. i was hoping someone could enlighten me with some more info on this engine, 2 or 4 bolt main, problem spots, etc.. anything would be appreciated. keep in mind if i would buy this it would go thru a complete rebuild before it went in the car, but i basically need to know if this engine would be a good platform to start on.
Thanks, Adam

I guess there is only one way to make sure if it is a 4 bolt main. If it is in a truck it probably has 4 bolt mains. If it is a very light duty truck then maybe not. For $500 bucks it wouldn't be that bad of a deal. You could pull the engine, scrap the truck, and probably get 200 bucks for scrap. If you pull the pan and see that is only 2 bolt than it isn't Ideal for building BIG horsepower, but you still can. If you want a 4 bolt and it isn't than you could probably sell it with the trans for at least 500. Either way you would benefit. But i'm a very optimistic person.
