Hi, I have 94 escort, and it doesn't blow air at all. The A/C worked SOMETIMES during the summer, and now it wouldn't do anything. Could anyone help to find out what may be the problem, please? I am looking for a cheap way to repair since this car is pretty old. Thanks much.

The first thing is you have to test and check all fuses. Get a test light, connect the clip to "ground" anything metal under the dash, make sure the key is in the "on" postion. Then touch the fuse contacts, on both sides on the fuse, with the test light probe. If your test light, lights up on each contact, then the fuse is good. If one side of the fuse doen't light up and the other does then the fuse is blown. Replace it with the same size/color. Test each fuse, under the dash, and there is a fuse box under the hood as well.
If all the fuses are good, move to the blower motor, remove the black kick shield panel ,under the dash ,on the passenger side. Then look up at the blower motor plug in connector. Disconnect it. It should be a black connector with two wires. Using your test light to test for power, again key on, & clip connected to ground, and with the blower speed control on high. Test each side on the connector. Your test light should light up on one of the wires. Then disconnect your test light from ground and connect it to the postive side of the battery. ( Now doing this take care, to not touch the probe of the test light to any metal, or if you have to use a extension of some kind, not to let it touch anything metal . You will cause voltage spike and most likely blow a fuse ) Then test the other wire, on the blower motor connector, your testing "ground" at the connector. If you have good ground and good power, then your blower motor is faulty. Replace it. Three to four 8mm screws hold it in place. Remove them. Then pull the motor out. Then use side cutters to remove the clip that hold the squirrel cage to the motor. The new motor should have a new clip in its package. Next get an assistant to hold the cage while you knock the faulty blower motor out from the cage. Use a punch and a small hammer. ( take care not to hit the plastic squirrel cage, or your buddies fingers and when the motor falls watch your toes.) Then just push the new motor on the cage, push the clip on, reinstall the motor back in the car, and finally install the black kick panel. Make sure it works when you finished. Good luck, this is not hard, should only take no more than an hour. Snaggs If your replace a fuse and it blows again. Means you have a short.
If you don't have power and or ground/ means you could have a bad switch or an open in the circuit. These or all very extensive problems and should only be tackled by a professional.
More than likely it's just the blowor motor.
