Hello,
Today I put the kids in the car to go to the store. Our 2000 Kia Sportage would not start when I tried, so I tried it one more time and nothing. Thats when the smell of gas engulfed the vehicle. So I quickly got the kids out and looked under the car. There was a huge puddle of gas near the back end of the car. Our neighbor came over and had me try to start it again to see where the leak was coming from. When I did he said gas was coming out all over around the fuel tank seams (a ton of gas comes out). It didnt look very rusted to him and was definately pouring out of the tank. Anyone have anything like this happen with their Sportage? Thanks

I"d rather thing some piping is disconnected somewhere higher and the fuel pours over the tank and then drips down from the protruding seam area..specially if it happened only when you turn the key on and the car does not start from fuel starvation while obviously a ton of fuel is available......double check....look under the carpet behind folded rear seat.
