grindin noise 96 jetta

i have a 1996 jetta gl 2.0 and it makes a grinding noise when i accelerate but it only happens when the car is warm pleasee help me!!!!!

is it a metal to metal noise? Is it int he engine or in the gearbox?

I had a rattling type noise when acclerating. If it is anything like a rattle it may be a cracked heat shield on the exhaust manifold. If it is more of a high pitched grinding id guess it was a transmission issue.
