August 17th 2002 Old Import Event
There is a huge event here in Michigan every year and I am trying to set up a nice group of older imports or old school imports if you will to get together. As we all know there is not much events for us so here is a perfect one. Every year I see old import cars at this event like datsun roadsters,bugs,510s,early corollas,rx2s,3s but no one is together plus it is a very busy events and hard to find other older imports to look at.
So the plan is on Saturday morning we all meet at:
8 A.M. August 17
Detroit (Warren)
Baymont Inn
30900 Van Dyke Road
Warren, MI 48093
Phone: 810-574-0550 Fax: 810-574-0750
This above location is a few miles east of the event so we will leave early enough to find some sort of parking. I am looking into a group rate at teh above hotel if enough intrest I need people to contact me asap. Also I will be looking into some reserved parking at the event. I will post follow ups here as well as my message board located below:

I will be settuping up a meet point further into the day to try to cover the people getting into town a little late so we all can have a good time and no trouble finding each other.

I will try to post this around but please forward to any of your friends and other websites/mailing lists etc lets all help out for a decent turn out! :)
Some basic info about the event:
What is the WDC?
It's the phenomenon known as the Woodward Dream Cruise (WDC). On the third Saturday in August, it attracts more than 1.5 million people and 30,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles to legendary Woodward Avenue in one glorious, celebratory, homage to America's love affair with the automobile.
When is the WDC?
Saturday, August 17th, 2002 from 9am to 9pm.
Where is the WDC?
The Woodward Dream Cruise stretches over 16 miles of Woodward Avenue and goes through the seven host cities: Berkley, Birmingham, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac and Royal Oak Michigan.
How much does it cost?
Nothing, the WDC is FREE!
Do I need to register my vehicle for the WDC?
No. There is no registration fee or cruising sticker for the Woodward Dream Cruise -- it's a FREE EVENT! Although, if you wish to participate in any of the numerous car shows, park near Woodward Avenue or attend other related events (which are all in addition to the WDC) there may indeed be charges for those extras. Since the WDC does not govern those additional events (the city that hosts it does, and there are seven WDC host cities), it is impossible for us to know what exactly those extra charges could or may be.
What's a Classic? (as defined by the WDC Committee)
A "Classic" is any car (or vehicle) that:
- creates a feeling of nostalgia
- stimulates a memory (or)
- fulfills a fantasy
If you have a car in mind that you'd like to participate in the WDC, and it fits the description above, by all means join us!
Remember anyone can come along. You don't have to have a old import everyone is invited the goal is to have a fun time and be around others who love old import cars heck even a v8 chevette is planning to come :)
