painted calipers

does anyone know where we can get some pretty calipers to go on our hot gp's? have done the spray thing on other cars- always looks redneck after a while. i know the new gp's have the fancy ones, where can us 98-03'ers get em? the ported/slotted discs are everywhere...cant find good calipers

Go with the paint and if you find those nice calipers, let us know.

Some GP owners are going with F body brake conversion in which there are plenty of calipers available with the nice factory look finish.

I was looking at my old employer, Advance Auto PArts, and they have a multiple step caliper painting kit that looks pretty nice. The colors they carry are red, blue and yellow. It's thicker and more durable than spray paint. I was thining about painting my calipers, brackets and the hat area of my rotors with it, but I can't decide what color. My car is Red, and I'm afraid if the red doesn't match closely it will look stupid, and yellow and blue would be a little garish I think.

I went with a combination of black and silver. Silver for the caliper and black for the brackets and all other parts. Looks sharp on a red car.

I know a couple guys that work there, so when I get time, I'll see how close the red matches my car's color (mine looks identical to your's Bob, same wheels and all). IF it matches close, I'll go red, otherwise, I was thinking about using engine paint and using the same colors as you did Bob, scary!

i cant remember the brand but for about 20$ i bought a little kit that had brake cleaner, paint, brush and stirrer. I took the bright red, since i also have a red car. I find it looks pretty sharp. The red calipers are nestled away in the wheel and behind the mag, so it doesnt look overly flashy. The colour is a pretty good match also.

admittedly though, silver would probably look pretty good also.

hmm, sounds like you got the kit I was looking at, because it has a prep cleaner and it's brush-on. Was there enought paint to do the caliper brackets also?

oh yeah, there was plenty of paint for multiple coats. i painted my brackets along with it as well. Both front and back brakes done and still alot left.

Cool, thanks for the info, so I guess it's off to Advance so I can make my calipers purdy. I'm ready to do brakes anyway, so might as well do it all at the same time.

No problem Rich. You'll like it. I took your suggestion and went to Autozone today and got the Duplicolor red kit for my son's Alero. Just completed the two front calipers today and doing the rear tomorrow. $15.99 plus tax for the kit. Enough for 4 calipers. His Alero is Silver so the red is a good choice. Good luck!
