You'd probably get the same results if you just cut the bottom part off your stock air box and put a k&n drop in filter in place. You wouldn't have to worry about the metal touching the positive terminal of the battery either as all short ram intakes seem to do in our cars...

oh i see, i wasnt aware of that problem...

the only reason i'm interested in something other than your suggestion is (ricer alert) the sound :D

The sound is a plus. My exhaust is so loud though even with a resonator that I can barely hear the waaaaah sound of the ram cold air intake between shifts. The cooler it gets though, the nicer it sounds... nobody ever said my car sounds like a dying bee to my face even though I have a fart can. I even get a lot of idiots doing ricer fly-bys because when I accelerate it's pretty mean.

yeah my magnaflow sounds pretty good, not like an angry swarm of bees or a lawnmower like a lot of the ones running around, although the rattling my A/C pulley seems to be louder :( but yeah i like that intake sound; is it only the CAIs or short rams sound like that too?

The closer the filter to the throttle body the louder the intake... but also the hotter the air is...

My car came with a 2kRacing intake like you're looking at 3" or it was Akimoto IDK... but my car was a piece... there were wiring issues, rigged up crap and missing relays, no A/C to start with and the battery was held down by a bungee cord. But the air was cooler cuz there was nothing obstructing it to that point where the filter on the short ram was. I think it's more personal opinion cuz like you said there isn't much of a power gain anyway...

yeah i'll probably pick one up then, quick unrelated question, my AC pulley seems to be bad, (AC doesnt work anyway), it rattles at certain RPMS. question is, can i just buy the serpentine belt that doesnt include AC and just bypass it? or are the other components in different places? why rob power if im not gonna get any benefit from it, right?

I've heard that it's better to remove all A/C components and not just the belt. I have Unorthodox Racing Pulleys so I can't really be of much help cuz I'm pretty sure there is no spot for the A/C belt on the crank pulley anyway. Oh yeah, mine has a whistle sometimes too at relaxed idle so I try not to idle too long cuz I've heard of lack of charging to the alternator with racing pulleys or whatever.
