if you had the opportunity to see when you died would you take it?

Interesting question you have there.

I'd like to say yes and then I'd like to say no.

First, if you knew you were going to die in a month, you'd live the last month of your life on the edge. You'd live every moment and enjoy it, right?

I know I would because like most people we don't take the chances that are thrown at us every single day. If you know you're going to die soon, you'll pick up those chances and run with them.

The thing is I'd be a little scared. I know I'm going to die at this time, this place, and in this way it'll really get to me.

I don't think I'd want to know exactly when I'd die but I'd like the know the time. Like in the month of June in 2008. I wouldn't know where or how but it'd give me a chance to live some these last couple of years.

I think i might too, because I might be able to do something to change it. Maybe look both ways to avoid that huge friggin bus bearing down on me.

yes, and no. I would want to know so I might beable to change it, but in reality you cant. When it is your time to go it is your time... On tha other hand, I wouldent want tha burden that I was gonna die at a known time/date, on my shoulders, I wanna be supprised....

Yes, because until that time came you'd be invincible. Imagine the fun you could have! While this may be interesting to talk about I don't believe it could ever be possible. We all make choices as we go and anything can happen as a result of that. The future can not be predestined.

why would you want to know when you'd die? if it was me, i'd lose all hope of ever doing anything knowing that it would all be in vain as there truly be no hope of a future. what makes life living is the uncertainty of the next day and the experiences it holds. if that's taken away, what do you really have left?

How do you know you can't? No one has ever done it so its impossible to say you can or can't. If the fact that you know your going to die on say 7/23/2100 means you start doing crazy shit now, you just might die in a week. The knowledge changes everything from that point on, its a different future.

I disagree. You aren't gonna be superman until the time you were supposed to die. The future gets rewritten as soon as you find out that your going to die on said date.

And how do you know it has not been done???? ever here of psychics????And lets say I do know when I am gonna die, that does not mean that I am gonna do a bunch of crazy shit and get my self killed before tha said time. I would spend as much time with my family as humanly possible. And do alot of prayin.....

So does that mean that the death you "see" was the death that would happen if you never looked at your death, but since you did, there is a good chance that the death you saw is not the death that will occur because the future gets rewritten because of the knowledge of seeing the death?

If that is the case, then what's the point of seeing when you died?

Exactly. However, if you have some sort of congenital disease, you might not be able to do anything about it, and you will die on that day, no matter what u do to prolong it.

The point of seeing when you die would be to change what will happen, even tho it may not work. U can not go outside and get run over, which prolongs your life, but maybe you fall down the stairs the next day. Who knows?

Most psychics are completely bogus. But i have heard of criminal cases where they call a psychic and he actually solves it.

I wouldnt do anything crazy either. I would not do whatever got me killed, unless it was old age or something like that.

I don't mind knowing the year, thats it. I think I would still try to achive my goals. Most of us will find out when and how, it'll be a little too late though.

Good question.

If I had an opportunity like that, I wouldn't be able to turn it down. I wouldn't try to change it either, everybody is going to die sooner or later. I know i'll be dead sometime within the next 85 years, whether its tonight or 85 years from now, i'm not too worried about it. As long as I hold my beliefs about after-death it doesn't really matter.

BTW guys, you can't debate a hypothetical situation, there are no FACTS. So you can argue opinion vs. opinion till you punch a hole in your moniter, but in the end you'll end up with an opinion. Which is pointless to argue over. :2cents:

Good point.

Now if I could only figure a way to disprove it with facts...

yes if it could be prevented then i would like to know but if not i would regret knowing and just try to live to the fullest. but even the smallest actions can change the future immensley.

On the topic of physics, Imagine this. We can predict where and how an object will move depending on its current state.

Now how about if we extend that and somehow say predict the how the objects in say a room are gonna interact. Ie, if we can predict their movement, so we know if they will interact and apply forces thus making it easy to calculate the rest of the movement etc....

now, lets extend that and somehow calculate the movement of everything in the world at this point. We should be able to predict what happens right? I mean nuerons and such are still moving so we should be able to predict that with physics right?

wrong...

If you've studied quantum physics, you know that it is imposible to track things like electrons since the only way (currently) is to shoot another electron at it and see if they collide. The thing is, when they do, it will be moving to a different place now.

So basically, once you find the position of that, it has changed everythign since what you did to find it has changed its original movement which you found out from shooting it.

Kinda fits in with the "if you know when you die, it'll change the future" thing dosn't it?
