Judging a bike by CC's is inaccurate. plain and simple. There are 600's that are great beginner machines, and there are 600cc superbikes. There are 250cc beginner bikes, and there are 250cc GP bikes. It's really a case by case determination. Generally, something that is low displacement and falls into the "standard" category is the best choice to learn on if you have to learn on the street. Ideally, you'll learn how to ride on the dirt first.
Oh, and Corvettes are lame.
