please please help me! alot of questions.

Im new to the car world being only 16. I own a Black 1999 automatic V6 Mustang. Being young I still have alot to learn about cars. I got alot of ideas of what I want to do but I need help on how to do it and I need prices. Ive been to alot of shops asking prices and for some reason they seem to take advantage of me being young and kinda clue-less about alot of stuff. So I figure before I do anything Ill ask you guys, Mustang owners, who own the same car as me and know what they are talking about. Hopfully even learn alot more about cars or atleast my car.

I have alot of Ideas of what I want to do to my car but not sure how to do it, what would be the prices, and what to get.
My school is real big on cars. I want to be one of the cars that everyone talks about and wants to see and take a ride in.
SOme of the nicest cars in the parking lot are probably... 2006 Mustang, 2005 Mustang Convertable, Escalade, a few 2005 Dodge Rams, 2001 Trans Am, some kid drives a crossfire and as his winter car he drives a m300, and one of my favorites is my friends truck, he has tvs in the headrests, LOUD subwoofers, tv in the dash, ps2, camera so he can see whats behind the car, rims, just everything you could think of.

PLEASE PLEASE ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS, i would really appraciate it.

Exhaust - I want dual exhaust with a low pitch rumble. I currently have a single exhaust. Ive heard one v6 mustang with dual exhaust and it sounded like one of those ricers. What are some good exhausts? How much would they cost? How much would labor cost?

Wheels and Rims - I look at all these mustangs on car domain and stuff and one of the main things that stick out to me is the rims. I want them to be bigger, possibly chrome. If I got with bigger rims would i need new tires? How much would tires be with bigger rims? what are some good rims?

Body Kit - I want my car to look more buff, Im not sure what it is but my car doesnt look as buff as other mustangs. I think the rims will make a big different instead of having stock rims. I was thinking about lowering the car a little bit, how much would that be? would i look better? Another thing was gettin a new front end something that is more bold like a saleen front end or something. How much would that cost?

Paint and Window tinting - I was thinking about gettin a new coat of paint to make the car shine, how much would that be? Or shoudl I wax it and polish it first before thinking about a coat of paint? My car already has tint on the windows just not sure the percent, I want them to be darker, would i need to get them removed and get new ones on or could new ones go on over the old ones? What r they prices on that?

Interior lighting (neons) - I want to have neon lights that glow down on ur feet, i want it to be blue, but i want it to match my color of my gauges so what would i need to do to change the color of the gauges? I also wanted those side pod gauges what do i do to wire those and what gauges should i put in there?

Audio - im not sure if all 1999 model mustangs have the Mach 460 series audio but if not mine does, but i want to have subwoofers in my car, but i dont want to take up the whole trunk, is there a way to hide the subwoofers or is there a good box to get or is there another place to put the subs inside the car? what are good subwoofers to buy?

Cd/Radio - I hate the set up on the cd player it sits really low and behind the shifter is there a way were i can get a cd player with radio built in and just put it where the radio was? and have like the neon switches on a cover where the cd player was or what could i do with the empty spot?

for performance u should start off with bolt ons. so a cold air intake, underdrive pullies, and dual exhast, and a xcal2(computer modual) would be a good start. for exhasut get some duals with 40 series flowmasters and that should be around $350 to intall(cheaper then buying a bolt on exhaust and doing it urself) and for rims chrome cobra rims is proaly what ur looking for and i think r a little under 1k. for a body kit u can go to www.mrbodykit.com and paint is all on who u go to and how good of a job u want but it is pretty expence if u go to a good place and get a profesisnal paint job. everything u want would probaly be about almost 10k

exhaust. Dual flowmaster 40s should sound ok. buy the mufflers then get it installed with like 3-3.5 in. piping. maybe $300

wheels. all up to you. generally, light and wide is generally what you want. anywhere from $500-3000+

body. all up to you. do whatever you want. anywhere from $0-unlimited.

tint. good idea. get it dark the first time so you dont regret it later. as for paint, dont waste your money its a 99 for gods sake.

interior is all you again. pretty cheap

audio. if your going to do it, do it right. check out RE Audio, Ascendant, Adire, Alpine, JL, maybe Kicker, Eclipse, Focal, stay away from best buy or circuit city if you can help it, they have some OK stuff, but not great. trust me just having a loud ass system gets very old. sound quality is where its at. 2000w per sub is way too much, esp. for a first system. I assume those are the Audiobahn Immortals. go with something higher quality like RE or something.

I just kind of skimmed through what the other guys had for answers, because for some reason the paragraphs are too wide for the screen and I have to scrool over and back (annoying). But I pretty much agree w/ what they said. WHAT KIND OF SCHOOL DO YOU GO TO THAT KIDS HAVE THOSE KIND OF CARS AND TRUCKS???!!!!!! NOT TO MENTION ALL THE CRAP THEY HAVE IN THEM....T.V., PS2, CAMERA FOR BACKING UP, WHAT THE HELL DO THEY THINK THEY'RE DRIVING...A SEMI-TRUCK? WISH I HAD THAT KIND OF MONEY!! OR I WISH MY MOM HAD THAT MUCH TO GIVE TO ME WHEN I WAS IN HIGHSCHOOL!! No, I'm not some old fart that thinks "when I was a kid _________(fill in the blank). I'm only 31, yeah I know, old to you, I know. The Flowmasters should give you the sound you want, go to their website and you can hear samples of what they sound like on certain cars. K&N Filter or cold air kit is a good start also. $50-filter, $150-cold air kit, do it yourself it's easy. Then get pulleys for about $100-$150 with a new belt. You may be able to that yourself (I don't know your skill level). A shop may only charge you $50 maybe even $100 (I don't know, I did my own) it's not that hard, follow the instructions and take your time. Good Luck

Exhaust - all of your performance needs can be solved by upgrading to a gt. most everyone will say that the 99gt is one of the best and if you are trying to compete for attention with those vehicles that you've listed you just might need one. for v6 dual exaust upgrades are much more than v8 exaust upgrades, but you should investigate this site: http://www.brothersperformance.com/shop/mustang/v6-ford-mustang-performance-1994-2003.html
the v6 performance is great, but in a lot of areas you are going to run in to higher prices and it is usually more cost effective to splurge on the v8.

Wheels and Rims - you would need new tires for new rims. select a set of rims that goes well with the rest of your exterior modifications. new tires can cost from 99 bucks a set to 900 bucks a set and the range for rims is the same. scope ebay for deals on rims or pick up any mustang magazine to find tons of dealers and styles.

Body Kit - again the gts tend to look more agressive, but bodykits for mustangs are available. saleen products are expensive and when i see a v6 with a saleen kit i just shake my head. look for other aftermarket providors, but i would spend the least amount of money here... infact i wouldn't spend any at all. lowering your car and building up the motor will make it seem buff enough.

Paint and Window tinting - If you don't like your color it would be cheaper to sell your current car and find one that does have the right color than it would be to repaint it (unless the paint is bad than go to town) a crappy paint job can cost as much as 400 bucks and you get what you pay for - better ones might be 1,200. if you want it to shine you might be talking about custom paints which cost significantly more. the amount you can have your car's windows tinted is limited by state laws. check with your local police officers to see how far you can go and if your car is at the legal limit already. my buddy is a ricer and he has removed and reinstalled his window tint four times because he gets fixits from the highway patrol.

Interior lighting (neons) - just don't. gauges are cool and you can get pods for cheap. wiring instructions come with them and are easy to follow. you'll want engine temp and oil pressure for sure, stock gauges aren't very accurite.

Audio - the best place for subs is in the trunk. boxes come in a variety of shapes and sizes and you won't have to take up your whole trunk or 1/2 of your trunk or maybe even 1/3 of your trunk.

Cd/Radio - the empty spot can be used for anything, switches, sunglass holder, change purse what ever. if you upgrade your deck it'll go in the place of your current radio.


you are easily looking at 4,000 bucks worth here. see what you can do about getting a gt, girls will like it better.

I forgot to mention that if you get a body kit you'll have to repaint your whole car anyway.

Wow! Thank you so much guys! Not only for your help but also for just how you treated me. I am also a member at www.mustangforums.com and wow those guys are DICKS! Well most of them. More people were giving me shit about my age, me having a V6, and my ideas than helping me. Like honestly im sticking to you guys, im offically done with that forum website.

I know alot of kids drive all those cars and shit but unlike them I am paying for everything myself. Working and saving and doing a little bit over time. Thats one thing i know i can say that they cant.
