back home...car doesn't like me

Howdy all,
So when I got home in August from being away all summer (unable to drive my car) I found these problems.
My car has been making ticking noises for quite some time. As the engine revs up, the ticking noises come faster together. I honestly have no idea what's wrong. I think I've seen this on another board somewhere, but can't remember what it was. Help?
Also, my car is having problems accelerating. When I try to floor it, it doesn't seem to want to go. It will accelerate, but sometimes it does it in spurts, almost like it's not being fed the fuel at a constant rate but in spurts. It revs fine though, so I doubt it has anything to do with a clogged line or something. I was thinking of an oil change, but I really have no idea.
Thanks,
David

Well the ticking is probably lifter tick. You need to change the oil, and that will solve that. It isn't harmful...just annoying and our cars are plagued by it.
As far as the acceleration, it is probably just due to sitting for awhile. Try putting in some STP fuel treatment, changing your spark plugs, and your fuel filter, and it should run fine.

also - if the sputtering is real bad- if u have the turbo model - u could have a small vacume leak - check the hoses an make sure everything - intercooler, acuator line - an everything goin to the throttle body is not seeping air out somewhere.
good luck
welcome back

Nah, I have the base model. Wish I had a few turbo's, but oh well. Thanks for the info anyway.
