My LS is a 2000 model with 53,000 miles on it. The last battle was the engine coils, after replacing all of the coils in July the engine light went out. That was from a miss fire code. Now I have gooten a P0430 code (Emmision system?). Have already replaced both catalitic converters and all monitors previously (one year ago). Also replaced the MAF in July. Any body know anything about this code?

I don't know what that code is but have you check the O2 sensor?

My chech engine light also came on, and the car wasn't running good at all. When I tried to rev it up while its in park, It wouldnt go above 3000 RPMs The all of the sudden the check engine light went out, and the car started running better, if not perfect. I am thinking it might be the catalitic converters or the O2 sensor, casue it kinda smells when you rev the car up. Anybody have any ideas. The engine light is out now, but I still need some more info. Anybody know how much is it the replace the catalitic converters or the O2 sesor Thanks.

There is a rev limiter on the LS when it is in Park or Neutral at 3000 RPM's. This is why it wouldn't rev any higher than that. The check engine light could come on if you didn't get your gas cap on good too. There are several things like that could cause the check engine light to come on.

The check engine light is only used for emissions related problems. My bet is that you have a minor problem with the fuel tank plumbing (like Ken said, a loose tank cap is enough to set a CEL) Mine goes on and off occasionally after a fill-up. I know that I've got an issue with the evap cannister or one of the vent solenoids, but I'm too concerned about it at the moment. It doesn't hurt driveability or milelage and I don;t have the time to dick around trying to find the problem and correct it.

Oh, there is a rev limiter. I didn't know that. When the light came on a friend tried to rev it up and it would go past 3000, so I got concerned. But yeah, the check engine light went out after I fixed the fuel cap.

Well i have read many threads about erratic shifting lincoln ls's.I think its about time ALL LINCOLN LS OWNERS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I beleive my lincoln ls is unsafe to drive do to the fact that the shifting is erratic. This car has actually cut out on me on the highway all lights power steering everything and gave me an error message. The message stated gear shifting error.I bought an automatic to elevate my bad shifting and now my automatic does not Know how to shift gears c'mon!!!!!!My dealer doesnt know what to do why are they are registered as a lincoln dealer if they cant fix lincolns.Well in my hunt to fix this problem I have found a website in which we all can file claims to the NHSTA about the lincoln ls's unsafe driving habits. We need to join together and over come this injustice to our pockets. I have paid almost two grand in maintenance and have still got the same problem my dealer says it is a computer glitch know and un fixable. Now if you want this problem fixed ALL LINCOLN LS OWNERS MUST go to this website and file a unsafe driving conditions claim on there lincoln ls. This is a government site so with enough of us ford will be forced by the government into issuing a recall and fixing there screw up once and for all. Go to this website and file a claim if you are tired of the run around.

Im sorry but I have to agree with the guy. I have never seen a car have more issues and we baby our automobiles. I think these cars are almost as bad as the Humvees with the every constant issues that come up. I am just hoping to sell mine within the next two or three months and get something reliable for my wife and kids.

Code P0430 is " P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)".

So it's a O2 sensor or a catalytic converter not working up to 100% on the passenger side of the engine. This could be a short term issue and not need any repair. I would clear the codes and see if it comes back. You can get the codes cleared at any Auto Zone as well as get the codes read.
