map sensor location 94 taurus?

okay it is a 94 ford taurus gl wagon with a 3.8 v6

it is acting just like my truck did when the map sensor went south ...trouble is i cant find the map sensor, the haynes manual says it is on the firewall....WELL HAYNES IS WRONG i cant find it

any help is appreciated...

I am afraid that you do not have a MAP sensor. You have a MAF sensor, or at least my 93' 3.8L Taurus did. I can't imagine why it would be any different.

The MAF is probably loacted near the air box, somewhere inline in the intake hose that goes to the throttle body. If you decide to clean the small wire from the sensor, be sure to use brake cleaner and not carb cleaner. :)

Is this based on a trouble code you had recevied?

many thanks there pete i hope youre right ...i for whatever reason (who is more familiar with the older vehicles)was under the assumption that just about any efi engine had one but obviously im wrong...


well i guess ill change that if you say it serves the same purpose as the map
