electrical problems

My wife 2000 cougar has a problem. The power door locks, the power trunk, and the alarm will not work. I changed the blown fuse's twice and Iam not sure what the problem is. any ideas whats wrong?

sounds like a PATS issue to me.

mine is doing the same thing... the latch on the door is causing the fuse to blow... needs a new latch... my dealer wants like $400 for the latch plus labour... so i'm holding off...

PATS = Passive Anti Theft System

All of your problems are controlled by PATS. Thats why I said its probably due to that.

How would one check the PATS system? Because it is on the same fuse as the power locks and trunk lock and none of them work at this time. Any input would be helpful.

i can't say for sure but my friend has a malbu and it did the same thing.i pulled the positive battery cable for about 5 min. and the problem went away and it has been 6 months,still working try it it could work.if you have a sound system with a cap drain it or it will not work for these caps can hold alot of power and will keep all computer controled equipment powered up for quite some time
