Jeep Wont Start

My wife left her door open and the battery drained. I went to jump it with one of those "self jumpers". When I placed the clamps on the correct battery post and she turned it, the clamp on the positive side popped and broke the clamps plastic handle on the positve side. So after that , I double checked the connections were on the proper sides and they were. So I got my regular jumper cables and tried to jump her with my Wrangler. It still would not start. The lights work, everything seems to work and the car turns over. I can hear the fuel pump engaging, and I checked the fuses the best I could. I don't look forward to taking it in at the mercy of the mechanics prices. All that happened was the battery went dead. (we hoped) Any suggestions before taking it in.

Check for spark at the plugs and the coil?.......... let us know what you find.

It was the battery. I did not think the lights and everything would work if the battery was shot. Oh well at least It was a cheap fix.
