dafizz, go away, you already are not liked here. Stop thinking your opinion is God's word and ours are shit.
Go Away. We don't want people like you here.
Congratz on the Camaro the 3.8's are quick and definately have potential.

fizzman.. you should show a little respect to our fellow members.. i mean come on.. he picked an f-body over any other car out there, that alone gets my respect. let alone a v6.. which i know a lot of you guys will dog on v6's, but with the right prep and work a v6 can do some amazing things.. especially the 3.8..
and as far as saving the money, i was in the same situaion, i was saving money for a faster car when i was 16 (had a 92 Geo Tracker).. i was slowly banking money away and was gonna buy a 3rd gen IROC, just like my grandpa's.. but, my first car took an abrupt crap on me.. i had to get to my job, i had to get to school, i couldnt afford to wait, and couldnt afford the car i wanted.. so i got the next best thing.. i bought a v6.. i still got the car i wanted.. just not the powerplant, and now im still saving for the one i want.
*it strikes a nerve with me anytime someone makes fun of someone for buying a v6 instead of a v8.. so for future reference to everyone, not a good idea..
*also, if this thread doesnt get back on track, im gonna put a lock on it..
CONGRATS to xpunter on his purchase! And i'm hoping to see some pics when you get your car.

youre right but as i said it was a bad joke. i will refrain from engine comments in the future. pertaining to buying an f-body youre right, he did get a camaro instead of a ricer (and i will not apologize for that comment).
again, congrats on the car.

stock 3.42 for now, will probably upgrade to 4.10 after cam swap but that should only vary gas mileage by a few mpg....

Fizz, what part of LI. I make it up to Deer Park every couple of weekends and to the thread starter, congrats. The 3.8 is no slow poke. They run very impressive numbers with lite work and will give most late model V8's a run for there money.

Congrats on your purchase. 3.8s are great engines, dont worry in no time, if you mod it great enough it will kick some great Mustang butt..

Congrats! Will be looking forward to the pictures. Are you gonna do any engine mods or is this just a hold over to you get the ls1? Nice truck btw, but 14 mpg is rough. My dads 2003 1500 gets 19 city(usually) and upward of 23-24 on highway w/ cruise.

im glad by time i got to page 4 of this thread everything was cleared up because i was about to jump on some ass....my 3.8 did me well...she raped v8's she ate imports, and in doing so got me around town. i could have got a v8 when i got her and i looked at 2 before i found mines but the rs kit just looks better than the everyday camaro look in my eyes, so she won even being 2 cylenders short i still love my baby. now a year and a half later look at me....about to do the ls swap (thanks to a friend fucking up his vett) and ill have more powah than what she was first born with. sometimes u gotta crawl before u can run....good buy man u will love that car the 3800 is a foundation of the ls1 block...both have great potential for power and they are both strong engines....and one day when u can maybe u will get that ls1 car and have both camaros.....or maybe u will be like me and keep your car and just give her a new heart...
MPe488
11-06-2005, 12:15 AM
congrats on the camaro! not a bad deal, even for a car with so many miles, but those 3.8s are supposed to last for awhile so take care of it. And if you can't get an LS1 the LT1s are almost as good and quite a bit cheaper if you can find a good one.
