2004 C240

I purchased a brand new 2004 M.B. C240. I have had nothing but problems with an tapping noise from a polution canister that is mounted under the hood on the left fender well. It sounds like a stuck lifter and is quite loud, especially at idle. It is driving me crazy. I also have had a problem with the transmission (automatic). It happens once or twice a week, but it takes sometimes 10-15 seconds before it will shift into reverse. They have replaced the tranny and I still have the problem. Is anyone else experiencing these problems??

is this car not still under warranty?

I have a 2001 C240, I think I have the same issue. My car makes a ticking noise when that seems to come from the left front of the car, but is heard primarily inside the vehicle. I asked my service guy about it and he said that it's supposed to be taht way........very frustrating. I'm sure I would have noticed it earlier had it always been there.
