Need help with g/f 95 galant

Alright the other night she ran out of gas or thats what she said. The gas gauge was on E but she usually goes until the light comes on. Well she was going home and the gas light came on and then the car died. So she called me and i took her 4 gallons of gas. Turned the key on and off several times to prime the fuel system. Car wouldnt ever start. Me and a buddy couldnt ever hear the fuel pump kick on.

So could this be the fuel pump or did i not let it prime long enough. Tried to crank it over a few times but not a constant crank.

Any suggestions on what it could possibly be? Also, can you hear the fuel pumps on these cars or not?

any help at all?
