i am now lost on what to do next. i have an 88 cherokee and the part time 4x4 is stuck in gear, and it seems to be running hot (215), can someone please tell me what the normal temp. should be for this yr of jeep.i have replaced the water pump , thermostat, water reservor, flushed the rad, but it seems to still be running hot, i even burped it from the water temp sending unit.i just replaced the electric fan.what else is there to do? oh and i also replaced the temp sending unit.

I would check the cap on the water jug. I know you said you have replaced the jug, but you didn't mention the cap. Also check the radiator hoses (particularly the lower one) to be sure theey have not partially collapsed.

replaced cap last night and both the hoses seem to be soft but not collapsed, its still reading temp at 215.thanks for your advice, do you know what the normal temp should be for this jeep

get it out of part time 4wheel first then go from there. and it should run at about 190. to get it out if its stuck get in the back seat and kick the handle down and to the front as hard as you can. but try not to kick you radio. thats what i had to do to mine.
