Glory be on high brothers.
One of my favorite black metal acts of all time is coming the closest they've ever been to my home.
Amon Amarth (viking death metal) from Stockholm, Sweden is coming to bring down the fury of the mother-fucking-North on Harpo's, Detroit weekend after next.
Amon Amarth has been one of my favorite bands ever since I started listening to them in 9th grade. I was hard-core obsessed with them several years of my life. I just can't wait. It just seems unreal that they're finally gonna get within like 1.5 hours of me. The closest they ever got before that was cleveland, and they go all over the world. This show is gonna kick unbelievable, cold, dark, frozen Nordic ass.
Anyone else plan on going?

Is that the tour with Trivium and Bodom? If so, no I'm not going to it and I'm extremely fucking pissed about it. The closest that tour is coming is about six hours away and between a new drum kit and alcohol I can't afford it, but I'd give my left kidney (this one isn't quite worth the left nut) to see this show.

Fair enough...I saw Trivium twice this summer (Ozzfest and the next day with In Flames, Shadows Fall and Mudvayne) so I've had my Trivium fix, but more is always good.
I would kill to see Amon Amarth and COB though.
I'll make sure to post up the pics from Fear Factory this Thursday too...should be a good one. (See my other thread for what the hell I'm talking about).

Well, I saw the show last night... and I just have to say.... unbelievable.
I've been listening to AA for 5 years and have never gotten the chance to see them live, and it was like nothing else I've ever experienced in my life. They're easily one of my favorite bands ever, and being down there up front, nearly within reaching distance of Johan Hegg, so caught up in the fucking fury of the north, experiencing so much damn adrenaline and shit from some of the best music on the planet - I've never felt a high like it in my life. It was just so damn awesome. I can't describe it. I've never felt that damn good at a concert before. But anyways so yeh, AA kicked incredible ass live, and trivium was pretty decent, though they were right after AA so I just sat them out because I was so spent, but I was back down there for COB. COB was pretty good live too (Alexi hauked a loogie on stage, which was very "metal") and they played 4 encore songs. LoL. Overall, the entire show kicked ass, and I'm still sore as hell from six hours of moshing, thrusting my \m/ into the air, and head banging, but it was worth every minute and cent of it. Best show ever.
Cliffnotes: AA Kicked unbelievable ass, Trivium was decent, and COB was good
Oh, and MTBN, COB will be in NYC December 12th this year at Irving Plaza w/ Trivium & AA.
