Well I am going through with the cylinder head replacement see post for "head gasket problem" if you want the whole story. While I am doing that I am going to replace the Intake/exhaust manifold gasket, thermostat, timing belt and water pump. Its about an extra $80 for parts but everything will be wide open so I figured I should do it now and maybe I want have to work on the car for awhile. Any other suggestions on parts that should be replaced at this point?
Thanks in advance,
Alan

I just did a similar job on mine not long ago(10,000 4 months)(belt,pump,t.stat,hoses,)..preventative maintenance(without changing the head)The engine was pretty low mileage..original (260,000) ..runs EXCELLENT! so I figgered why mess with it..it should be ok for quite a while yet..I was REALLY REALLY tempted to changethe head (while doling the belt, pump)when offered a pretty much new head at the time..30,000 miles for $50..off the car.I KNOW now that I shouldda bought it.SH**.Just as a spare. But they are a dime a dozen in the bones for $40/50..oh well..
I would be tempted to change the exhaust manifold studs in the exhaust manifold if they are not great.Ditto for freeing up..being able to get the 02 out if you have to at some point in the future. Not fun if you have to try and get this thing and it is nasty(a lot are) at some point.
I also changed ALL the hoses. My 93 has that rinky dink set-up under the coil with the hoses crimped onto that little pipe. You can cut those clamps off..use regular pieces of hose and regular clamps.DON'T try this with the hose from the w.pump to the heater core though(at least on my 93..The hose has DIFFERENT SIZE ENDS..HAHA) By the time you fiddle around with an adapter..clamps..2 different sizes of hose..ya couldda bought the right stinkin' hose in the first place(Go ahead..ASK ME how I figured this out)
I figgered when I got it apart the t.stat hsng bolts might be a little long in the tooth..so I orderred some new ones from Ford in advance.Cheap..couple bucks.Good plan! Mine were junk when I got them out.
New Alt belt wouldn't hurt.Fuel filter? Wires?
Good luck there man..
