repair to computer ECM

has anyone ever opened up a dodge computer to do repairs? I have a 95 5.9L ram van 3500 with an electrical short in the ecm. is there a way to remove the resin goop that covers the components on the inside. it appears to be a simple fix if i can get inside without destroying it HELP!

If it is bad a rebuilt or even used computer is the way to go.
To repair one you would have to be a electronis expert and a have all of the parts and info on the computer.
Also some places will rebuild or check your old one.
Do a google search.

well it is a single year application i have tried parts houses from british columbia to florida. the dealer has one but it is 500 $$ i can fix it if i can remove the resin covering it, but cant figure out how to remove the resin i have the parts, well the common parts anywaythe caps and resistors and some auto grade transistors.

Te only i would know of to get the resin off would be to heat it and see if it will melt off.
Try putting it in a big drain pan and stick it in a oven.
Might work and might not.

Be careful removing the resing or gel with a heat gun. You may want to look into a reman PCM from Napa - they run about $300.
Repairing them isn't worth the effort though.
