need more power-97 neon

last night, i raced 4 cars, and lost to them all!, i know i have a small misfire problem, but 4 damn cars!,one was my friends 2000 neon, the other was a 5 spd 4 cyl 2.3 liter mustang, 2003 cavalier, 98ish civic, i could understand maybe 3 of the cars i lost to, but a 2.3 liter mustang!, my car has the powerful 2.0 liter motor :banghead: 140hp supposably, maybe my misfire problem is draining more power than i thought, but still i should have took the mustang, but i wanted to race them while it was stock to see where i could get it to in a couple of weeks without nitrous though, anythoughts?

first of all, its a neon.

swap the srt4 engine if u want speed, or get nitrous

Throw on the biggest turbo and highest HP sshot of Nitrous you can find. Nuetral drop from 5000rpm...then buy a new motor. Or just get some muffler bearings. Those help too...

I still dont have net access from my room, only from the library. The computer services tech here at my school is to busy giving bjs to his assistants to fix my computer. I should be on by next week though, and then life will be frosty again.

Not true, he has the 2.0L which likes to be turbo-charged.

If you really think that you need to make your Neon your project car then the only option you have is to turbo-charge it. Your engine takes very well to being turbo-charged. However, what is really slowing your car down is that horrible gearbox you have bolted to your engine. The transmission itself is great for saving gas but sucks for going fast. You want the manual. So unless you plan to swap in a manual I would say don't waste your time.

im with racer D12. my friend has a neon. he has spent about 3k in it since he has hook ups with his cousins to get things bored out for cheap and is spraying 75shot and runs 14.6 in a manual. now the car sounds like shit. he since then had a 302 motor from a truck,(same motor from gt stang) and put it into a 87 stang that he got for free. i think you sould put the neon up for the junk yard and just but somethin tuner friendly, maybe a Si, or a integra. its a lot faster than your neon and you will eventually get better at drivingf so you dont kill your engine right away....

Now I want to tell you something he did that really made me laugh.

He started a class up saying James came to me after class and asked about a quiz. Now James did no such thing but the whole class was trying to figure out why James would want a quiz.

He take great joy in confusing us. He understands public speaking so well the class is probbly the best taught class i've ever had.

We've learned alot from simon says even. Now thats one hell of a teacher if he can teach you from a kids game!
