Trans Filter Issue

I was trying to change my transmission filter this weekend and could not get the pan to drop. I tried jarring it with a mallet, some gentle prying but zero movement. It is a 99 grand voyager with the 3.3 liter engine.
Has anyone had this happen and what it anything did they do to resolve it?

I just did the same thing this weekend on my 99. The pan is sealed with sillicone sealant. i managed to get the blade of a utility knife inbetween the pan and the transmission and cu part of the seal then I found the use of a hammer at the corners of the pan worked it loose.

Chrysler is fanous for using black sillicone instead of gasket, the heat and cold baked it in.

Use a screw driver and drive between the housing and the pan in a couple places and it will come off'

I just did it on my 2000 GV 3.3L. I used a long screndriver and genly tapped it with a hammer. I rested the tip of the flat head screwdriver on the lip of the pan, from in front of the driver side tire. This way I wasn;t under the car, and I could get on top of the pan. Angle the screwdriver down and gently tap, as soon as you get some separation, gently push and turn the scredriver. Be careful not to mar either surface.

Yes RTV silicon works very well. Use a screew driver like others say, but use several. Scraping the aluminum trans surface isnt that bad because the scratch will be filled with rtv when you seal it again. A bigger problem is using one screw driver will tend to bend the pan. Then the bent pan may not seal as good when you re install it.
