I have a friend with a 1984 Chevy Silverado 1500

he wants to know what mods can he get performance-wise.

1)better cam, torquey one for street driving, lopey one for high rpm horsepower, make sure to get a higher stall speed converter if you get a lopey cam or else it will be really slow off the line.

2)also you can get aftermarket carbs, intakes, exhaust, and stuff like that that isnt really that big of deal but maybe together adds 20 horsepower or so...

3)better cylinder heads should help drastically with performance...

4)a better ignition can raise a couple horsepower, more for mileage than power probably...

5) various other things, like electric fans can get maybe 5 more horsepower

by the way, torque is better also for most of these things except lopey cams and stuff like that... just make sure not to set it up with too much of a loss of low end torque or you will have a slow pile that only accellerates well at high rpms.

thanx a lot for the reply, he really isnt looking into building it real big, he just wants a cupple things here and there that will waken it up a lil bit. thanx a lot. i have tried looking online for those parts, but i cant find any, where would you suggest looking?
