thermostat check after the water pump

O.k... so a potentially bad water pump would leak and emit a 'bearing' noice. What about the termostat? Does it have signs of failure other than the dummy lights?
Thanks!

A thermostat doesn't make any noise when it fails. It will either stick open, in which case your engine will take a long time or never get up to temp or it will stick closed, in which case your engine will overheat very quickly.
