Eduard Seatbelts. Not sure about them.

I've just brought two sets of 6 point eduard seat belts, and they do not look very good at all... They are also short, too short for rally cars.

also, they are pre-painted.. PE pre-painted, that needs to be bent.. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Wish I hadn't brought these now, as I think they might be hard to get on with.

Anyone used these before? Comments, good or bad, before I think about putting them up for sale, or use them for something other then a rally car, which was the intended purpose..

And what does everyone use for seatbelts in rally cars?

I bought some material that is used as foil (silky texture) that looks good to me. It can be bought in shops that sell those large sheets of foils for makeing advertisements.

I used those belts on my drag civic. They do look good on the tree but once you start to bend them the paint starts to come off. If you dont mess with them too much they will look ok.

what said guys is true, however i paint matt red in my '01 pennz. with better results and more, this kit is relly useful then other self-adesive belt kit (SMS?)

Hmm… Well looks like they do work, shame the paint will crack off.. What a silly idea. I’ll just touch up the parts where it will crack when I use them. And looks like you can make them extend to the roll cage.. Good, not just wasted my money then. Think I’ll look for something better though.. Thanks the links and pictures guys.

ah yeah.. Forgot about your super built Cobra... Your second model, and what I stunner it was.. I want that kit, but yep, you made them work... I'll give them a go, but how did you bend them? Steel ruler, or something?

Hmm... i've got to get better at building, painting no problem, building hmm.. Bit of a problem here..

Very hard to work with. I had (maybe I wasn´t skilled enough) to make the ends smaller in order to connect all the parts of the belts. Afterwards it´s not seeable but I´m sure they weren´t meant to be used this hard way. Still not modelling friendly.

Today I would try to find different ones.

Now that you mention it i did have to mess with them cause I think the directions were wrong. There is certain hardware that wont work according to the instructions. I think somewhere between step 2 and 3. Just keep an eye out for that.

I very much like the SMS parts, though in 1:24 you have to get two sets to get two identical belts (each set makes two different belts, but two sets will net you four belts, two identical pairs).

I used small-nosed pliers, razor blades, a piece of glass and a lot of dirty words :)

It was very difficult that way though, so when I saw an Etchmate folding table in my LHS, I didn't even think twice ;)

If you are going to be doing a lot of P/E work in future, you might want to think about getting one (or smthg similar). They aren't very cheap but it will, I suppose, last for ever (or at least for your 50 kit stash ;) ) At the end of the day, if it helps prevent you buggering up an expensive P/E fret or 2, it will have paid for itself!

I have also found it useful for other little odd jobs such as fine tuning roll bars on 2CVs, straightening out earings and even leaving notes for the cleaning lady :)

I used 4 point version on my Renault 5. Sometimes the paint cracked. But I think they came out ok.
Only strange thing was the centre piece. Didn't get it right and also wondered where to attach it.
