i got an 89 zc. I'm thinking of getting a new header to replace my stock. I've already got K&N short ram and 2.25 exhaust. How much hp would you expect on my civ? is it really worth the money cause i've seen some decent ones for around 300$ and if it's not that worth it (which i've heard they're not) then that can be money spent on something else. Also what are some of the better ones out there..thanks guys

If you plan on going turbo in the future then don't get it. If you plan on staying N/A then get it. DC Sports Ceramic Coated 4-2-1 is great.

I have a megan 4-2-1 (more expensive than the eBay cheapies, but not as expensive as the DC sports), but I love it! Since u already have an intake, and exhaust, the header would be the most suitable next mod, and it will all flow nicely together... I honestly cant give any before/after opinions on it because I actually installed it when I swapped my engine, but the sound is nice... And the performance is nice... I personally wouldnt spend too much on one tho.. I think I paid like $200 for mine shipped...

And as turtle said, if your planning too boost, dont get one... Youll only end up having to sell it to install a turbo manifold...

Try to find a used one if you can. I picked up a used DC 4-2-1 ceramic for $60 shipped.

I went from 17.3 to 17.1 in my 91 hatch when I added a Landspeed header. $200 used off ebay.

I wouldn't go buy that. I run in between a .5 sec difference depending on if the sun is out or not. Do a dyno test for real proof.

Eitherway headers doesn't do anything for you on a motor thats not modified.

With these gas prices, a crx with a d motor is nice. Besides, how else am I supposed to kill time at work?

idk about that because im getting just as good gas mileage with my ls than with my dpfi. 35mpg d15 and 34 mpg b18b

I know there will be day to day differences with track times. I've raced so many times before and after the header that I think these times are pretty consistent and accurate. Plus for this particular header you cand find actual dyno runs online. So take it or leave it, I think the .2 second difference is reasonably accurate.

Even so, it's not how many mpg you get, it's how many tanks you go through and how many miles you drive. Since my wife's car is in the shop, I have to drive 80 miles per day round trip to work plus drop my wife off at work (on a college campus meaning more traffic) and do all the toting and driving around (laundry, groceries, etc.) and I'm still getting on average 30 mpg. Another thing, elevation changes are dramatic where I live and that does make a difference...

Back on topic, a header will be a benefit since these Hondas make power further up in the power band regardless of track times...

well i bought a "HP Racing" header off ebay for $120 to put on my 1.5L, did a DOHC ZC swap and it still fits and works fine though im not sure if its big enough for the flow of the ZC with the mods i have on it. but adding a header will definately make a difference. IMO(from experience)
