Personally, I have no problem with the fiero. My (shallow) friend wanted to know what every mr2 owner thought of the fiero...so he used my account for this purpose and started the thread "fiero...pfft". I apologize to every fiero owner out there and I'd like to say "welcome to the mid-engine family kids!"

Tell your friend not to worry about it. ive had three friends over the years who have had Fieros and all of them were garbage. One of them was a V6 gt that I got to go out for a ride in. The dash board fell on my lap when the guy tried to take off in it. Fit and finnish was awlfull and it was notorious for overheating and leaving people stranded including all three of my friends and that was back in the early 90's so the cars werent even that old.
They arent even very quick I took two v6 ones out in my 2 when it was still N/A.
As for your "friend" sticking his nose up at them, he's with good company like consumer reports and just about every car mag i can think of with the exception of Fierro Fast Times and I think they might be biased.
Would I tell an owner of one my oppinion? No, that would be rude, but I do cringe when someone compares my 2 to one.
